The Swiss Society of Economics and Statistics (SSES) presents three awards at its Annual Congress.

Economic Journalism Award 2025

Kurt Schmidheiny, president of the Swiss Society of Economics and Statistics, presents the 2025 Economic Journalism Award to Mathilde Farine (RTS).

Mathilde Farine (RTS) for her extensive coverage of economics, finance and monetary policy matters in Switzerland. Her articles are topical and precise. They are also well-balanced from an economics standpoint, and make use of academic developments.

Young Economist Award 2025

Jan-Egbert Sturm, chair of the programme committee of the 2025 SSES Annual Congress at ETH Zurich, presents the Young Economist Award to Matteo Grigoletto (University of Bern).

Marcel Caesmann (University of Zurich), Janis Goldzycher (University of Zurich), Matteo Grigoletto (University of Bern) and Lorenz Gschwent (University Duisburg-Essen) for the paper “Censorship in Democracy” presented at the 2025 Annual Congress at ETH Zurich.

Best Paper Award 2025

Marius Brülhart, editor-in-chief of the Swiss Journal of Economics and Statistics, presents the 2025 Best Paper Award to Brendan Berthold.

Brendan Berthold for his paper “The Macro-Financial Effects of Climate Policy Risk: Evidence from Switzerland” published in volume 160 of the Swiss Journal of Economics and Statistics.
